Yahoo has confirmed a data breach that might have involved around 500 million yahoo user accounts. Yahoo announced on 22nd September 2016 that in 2014, a cyber-attack believed to be state sponsored which managed to obtain information of users including names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, and hashed passwords. Hash password is a common method of storing normal passwords in the format that hides the original password.Users of Yahoo accounts are advised to immediately change their passwords and use more secured passwords.
- Secured password is a password with at least 13 characters using a mix of letters, numbers and symbols.
- Use different password for different accounts; do not reuse the password you have created anywhere else such as for your Facebook or email accounts.
